Jensen Huang is founder and CEO of Nvidia, the world’s largest designer of so-called “graphics processing units” (GPUs) used for artificial intelligence training and inference and the world’s most valuable company since 2024, currently valued at over $5 trillion (NVDA) as of October 2026.1 The company was founded in 1993 by Huang and two of his former colleagues to manufacture graphics cards for video games, which remained its primary line of business until the release of OpenAI’s ChatGPT in late 2022 and the subsequent boom in optimism for AI technology requiring powerful computer chips like GPUs. Unlike many companies buoyed by the AI boom, however, Huang foresaw the flexibility of his chip technology decades ago and made such applications possible in the first place through the development of tools like Nvidia’s software platform Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA). Huang is not resting on his laurels now but actively steering the development of the world’s semiconductor, data center, and AI industries. His next major goal is to unlock the potential of his GPUs for advanced robotics and usher in an economic revolution in the physical world as well as the virtual. Perhaps surprisingly, unlike many of his peers, Huang is neither a singularitarian nor a “doomer” about AI.
