The Wealthiest Man in India
Mukesh Ambani followed in his father's footsteps to build a conglomerate with interests across chemicals, retail, telecom, software, and media in India. His empire however may be divided.

With a net worth estimated at over $105 billion as of September 2025, Mukesh Ambani is the richest person in India, one of the twenty richest people in the world, and the richest person in the world outside of the United States and Europe.1 Ambani, who is currently 68 years old, is the chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries, a conglomerate which is the largest company in India by revenue, the most profitable, and the most valuable, with a market capitalization of over $215 billion (RELIANCE.NS).2 Through this conglomerate, Ambani owns large shares of India’s natural gas extraction capacity, oil refining capacity, and chemical manufacturing capacity. Although his business’ footprint outside India is limited, Ambani has recently made headlines in Western media for his company’s role in refining Russian crude oil shipped to India, which has become the target of sanctions by U.S. President Donald Trump.3
